This course is designed to build essential reading skills, focusing on the core components of phonics, sight vocabulary, and fluency. Recognizing the challenges many students face with reading multisyllabic words, the curriculum also includes targeted instruction on spelling, affixes, and root words. Students will receive comprehensive support to enhance their ability to decode and understand complex words, paving the way for improved reading proficiency and confidence. HiSET Exam

The HiSet™ is a series of five subject tests; Science, Social Studies, Reading, Writing, and Math. The HiSet has replaced the GED in Maine. Students are enrolled in HiSET Academy to help them prepare for the exam. Students are expected to attend an in person class at least two hours per week and also complete at least two hours of study online per week. HiSET Academy and the HiSET exam are free for Maine residents. Participants must be at least 17 years old and not enrolled in high school. Please call 207.941.6316 for a registration appointment for either the High School Diploma program or the HiSet.
