Learn basic hand-building techniques to create a unique, microwave- and dishwasher-safe ceramic mug. We’ll explore pinch, coil, and slab construction, experiment with handles, and add surface design through texture and carving. Glazing will be done later by Janna or by participants. All materials included; $20 materials fee payable to the instructor. No experience necessary.

Do you have clothes that need patching? Or perhaps an old pair of jeans that could use a fresh look? Come learn sashiko, the Japanese art of visible mending, where we will patch our clothes with a purposefully visible stitch pattern to strengthen and beautify them all at once. Students will learn how to create sashiko stitches using a gridding technique and the running stitch. Everyone will begin their projects in class and leave equipped with all the tools and confidence to finish this wonderful technique on their own. Kindly signup at least 2 weeks prior to the class start date. All students will receive their own sashiko needle, thread, and patch. *Please bring a pair of scissors, a ruler, and sewing pins or safety pins if you have them.

Parents: It is vital that your student arrive on time for class. Due to late arrivals, students have fallen short of their 30 hours of class time and must make up the time. Because the State of Maine requires 30 hours of class time, if your student arrives late, they will be turned away, and a charge will apply (below) for the class to be made up. It is very important that your student arrives on time. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

Are you between the ages of 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successfully completing the course with a grade of 80 percent or better and completing the required hours of instruction. The total hours of instruction are 40; 30 are in the classroom, and 10 are behind the wheel. A full payment of $575 is due at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. In this class, we will follow step by step instructions to create a mini window greeting card. You will leave with an adorable library themed 3D card! We will also make a book themed bookmark to keep or give to your favorite bookworm. Precut kits and envelopes are provided. Participants need a pair of scissors and colored pencils or markers.

Beautiful objects are created in this class every semester by beginners. You can create a stained glass window or lampshade using the copper-foil technique. Learn acid etching and drilling. This is a fun and rewarding course. A complete list of materials will be discussed on the first night of class. The cost of materials is not included in the course fee and can vary depending on choice of glass and what your imagination will create. Note: You will also need to purchase your own tools, which can run between $45-$95. *No Class: 10/13.
This class blends the core-strengthening and flexibility-enhancing benefits of Pilates with the mindful movement and breathwork of yoga. Expect plank variations, core-focused movements, and exercises using a small ball or resistance band. Standing poses, floor sequences, and mindful breathing practices. Modifications offered to accommodate different experience levels and abilities.
