Ultimate Beginner Watercolor: Level 1

In this 2 day class, you'll learn everything you need to know to get started with watercolor painting. We will have an in-depth conversation about paper and pads, paint, palettes, and brushes. After the materials lecture, we'll jump right in and make a color chart, practice mixing paint and our brush strokes. After a quick review on the second day, you'll have the opportunity to paint a custom illustration created by Catherine and printed on watercolor paper. You'll leave this short, but sweet class with enough experience and knowledge to know if investing in the materials to paint with watercolor is something you are interested in doing. All materials provided. *A $20 materials fee must be paid to instructor at first class.

February 17th will be a special all day session. We will meet from 2:30 to 5, take a half hour break and finish up between 5:30 to 7:30.

This yoga class blends Hatha, Yin, and Restorative practices, offering a gentle yet comprehensive introduction to mindful movement, deep stretching, and profound relaxation. We will begin each session by focusing on breathwork and foundational postures to warm the body and cultivate a sense of presence. Next a transition to stretches that target deep connective tissues, promoting flexibility and releasing tension in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Finally we will conclude with a restorative sequence, using props to support the body in passive poses allowing deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Come learn some more advanced Latin dance moves with Barbara! You will learn about Bachata, Salsa & Rumba. Add to your Latin Dance experience with Afro-Cuban origin that became internationally popular in the last century. Rumba, the "Dance of Love" has your hips swaying and close partner connections. A popular choice for slow partner dances of both Latin and pop music. The Bachata is a playful Latin dance from the Dominican Republic. This style is danced with soft hip motions, turns and side-to-side footwork. The music of Bachata is very recognizable for its predominant use of the electric guitar combined with Caribbean and Latin musical influences. Salsa is a Latin dance, associated with the music genre of the same name, which was first popularized in the United States in the 1960s in New York City. Salsa is an amalgamation of Cuban dances, such as mambo, pachanga and rumba, as well as American dances such as swing and tap. The basic Salsa dance rhythm consists of taking three steps for every four beats of music.

Parents: It is vital that your student arrive on time for class. Due to late arrivals, students have fallen short of their 30 hours of class time and must make up the time. Because the State of Maine requires 30 hours of class time, if your student arrives late, they will be turned away, and a charge will apply (below) for the class to be made up. It is very important that your student arrives on time. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents are required to attend the last 45 minutes of the first class AND participate in a ride-along with your child for one hour of their 10 hour driving lessons requirement.

Are you between ages 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successful completion of the course with a grade of 80 percent or better. Only employee discounts are allowed, but you must call to register. If the student has a medical condition, please contact the office or click on the link below as an additional medical form is required. Total hours of instruction is 40; 30 classroom and 10 driving. Full payment of $575 is required at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please bring your birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class as well as glasses for your eye exam, if you wear them.

Introduction to Upholstery: Dining Chairs Edition

Dining Chair Edition! This hands-on workshop introduces students to the foundational skills of upholstery. Over the course of six classes, students will learn to transform 4-6 outdated dining chairs into beautiful, functional pieces. Through guided instruction, students will become familiar with a variety of upholstery tools and techniques. Students will also learn how to select fabrics, measure and cut cushioning materials, and properly assemble a finished seat. Whether you're looking to refresh your dining room or gain a new skill, this course provides the perfect introduction to the art of upholstery. Course Highlights: + Learn how to reupholster dining chair seats using modern and traditional techniques. + Hands-on practice with a variety of upholstery tools: pneumatic staple gun, wooden mallet, staple remover, and pliers. + Guidance on fabric selection, estimating, and manipulation. + Basic seat assembly, padding, and finishing. + Safety procedures and proper tool usage. Materials: Students will need to provide their own fabric. All other materials will be provided. Recommendations on where to purchase fabric can be found on my website: khgupholstery.com. All tools will be provided for use during the class.
