Are you curious about how to do oil painting but are terrified about how to start? We can help! We can help you understand how oil painting works and the necessary tools needed to start your own art journey. No supplies necessary. Merrymeeting provides all materials. Note: This class is ONLY for novices and beginners. If you have any level of experience in oil painting, this class is not for you. *All materials included.

In this one night workshop, you will learn about the different kinds of glass , how to cut and grind glass. We will be making acid etched hearts. You will be able to take them home that night. Lab fee $10.00 to be paid to instructor at the beginning of workshop.

Ever wanted to take some time for yourself and play with clay? Learn the basics of hand building and wheel throwing in this 6 week class. This class is geared toward the beginner. The first 10 people to sign up have priority on the wheel. Please let admins know if you prefer to hand build or wheel throw so we can keep an accurate account. Embark on a creative art and crafting journey with Catherine to design your own image transfer on a wood panel. Delve into collage on the first night, crafting a captivating background with vintage papers and paint. Then, unleash your creativity on the second night, revealing the vibrant design. Add finishing touches with a variety of mixed media tools and techniques. Seal your masterpiece with matte varnish for longevity or take it home and continue to work on the details. An intro to the bright and shiny world of glass on glass mosaics. Bring a nature photo for inspiration or go with the flow for an abstract adventure. Mosaic substrate is an unfinished wooden picture frame with a clear glass back. The first two classes are for breaking, arranging and gluing glass. The third class we will grout and finish. Tools will be provided for in class use. No experience required! All Materials provided. A material fee of $35 must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class.

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to brush up on previous skills, this is the drawing class for you. Working in a variety of media, we will cover all of the basics: line, shape, value, proportion, composition, perspective and markmaking. Particular focus is placed on observational skills, learning how to translate the 3-dimensional world onto a 2-dimensional surface. A materials list will be provided after registration.

Bring a sketchbook and pencil and join us for an afternoon of drawing in one of Maine's fabulous museums. Forge an intimate connection with museum collections, while improving your own work by studying the techniques of the masters. Guidance and critical feedback are provided as needed. At the end of our visit, we will meet up to share our results with the group. Museum admission is included in fee. Location: Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick.
