Annual Meeting Minutes

June 12, 2024

Call to Order:  10:05 a.m.

Present:  Shara Page, Kayla Sikora, Razell Ward, Shelli Pride, Lisa Robertson, Jeremy Lehan, Shara Page, Ander Thebaud, Tia Simon, Eleanor Chow, Jeanne MacDonald, Mary Redmond-Luce, Kenlyn Clark, Raye Leonard, Dawn Wheeler, Tom Nash, Adam Sikora, Linda Winton, Ann Sargent, Shirley Wright

Shara Page made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 2023 annual meeting.  Kayla Sikora seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report – Jeremy Lehan read the Treasurer’s Report.  He noted that the summary is in the Annual Report.  It was a solid year with $15,000 more in assets from the prior year.  The conference did well and helped recover some from the pandemic years.  Kayla Sikora made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report.  Shara Page seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Lisa Robertson went over the highlights of the 2024 Annual Report.  Kayla Sikora made a motion to accept the Annual Report.  Shara Page seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Shara Page made a motion to accept the election results and the slate of officers for 2025.  Shara Page seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  Razell Ward abstained.

Lisa Robertson, 2024 President, made remarks.  She thanked everyone for attending the annual meeting.  She said she loved working with dedicated professionals who have a love for adult learners.  She said the board has been very busy with committees and meetings and successfully brought in a 1.5 million dollar increase to subsidy.  The marketing committee has been very active with the booklet and other materials.  The conference in 2024 will be structured more like a retreat and she is proud of all of the achievements this year.

Kayla Sikora, incoming MAEA President, said that she was honored to serve as president this year.  She thanked Lisa for the help in getting ready for the year.  She wants to create a strong team.  She is excited and looking forward to a Bigger, Brighter Future (conference theme) for adult education in Maine.

Tom Nash made a motion to adjourn at 10:19 a.m.   Jeremy Lehan seconded the motion.  Meeting was adjourned.
