Zinnias are one of my absolute favorite flowers to grow in the garden every year, and their popularity and low maintenance make them well-suited for this class. We will paint those vibrant flowers with petals that layer so nicely. . No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time you’ll find this to be a fun and engaging class. Canvas and paints are supplied.

New Life for Old Books

In this 1 night class I will show you how to create a custom art journal using a vintage book, waxed linen, watercolor paper, canvas and other decorative papers. Signatures will be saddle stitched to the spine of the old book and decorative papers will line the inside panels. All materials will be covered in the $35 kit fee, books will be between 5" x 8" and 6"x 9" each book will all be unique and different. A variety of papers will be available to choose from for the liner pages. Time permitting, we will talk about art journal techniques to use on the interior pages.

Introduction to Ultimate Beginner Watercolor

Get started with the basics of watercolor painting. In this workshop we will start with an intro to paper, paint, palettes, and brushes. Then we'll jump right in and get painting; you’ll mix paint to complete a color mixing chart and start to learn the basics of color theory. Time permitting you'll paint a custom illustration created by Catherine and printed on watercolor paper. You'll leave this fun class with enough experience to continue your watercolor journey. *There is a $10 materials fee payable to the instructor on the day of the workshop.

Intermediate Zentangle and Collaborative Drawing

This is a 3-part Hands-on workshop for people with a basic understanding of the Zentangle drawing technique. This class will build upon the basics and teach intermediate patterns and projects. Have you been eyeing those fabulous chunky blankets you’ve been seeing at expensive home décor shops? In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own! Using buttery-soft jumbo yarn, you will create a scrumptious blanket using a simple hand-weaving technique. Choose from an array of beautiful colors! Absolutely no knitting, crocheting, or weaving experience is necessary. A $55 materials fee is due to the instructor immediately following registration and is non-refundable after yarn orders are placed. The dimensions of the finished blanket are approx 4.5' x 6' - it varies a little bit due to differences in how tightly/loosely people work. *The deadline to register for this workshop is 1/6 due to pre-order requirements. Using my fool-proof classic pullover sweater pattern, you will learn basic sweater construction skills such as tweaking a pattern to achieve your perfect fit, knitting from the top-down, creating raglan sleeves, and final finishing techniques. Learn in a communal, stress-free and satisfying way! Some very basic knitting experience is required. Bring a sweater that fits you well to the first class.
